Tree Topology

The root structure of the nodes in the Tree topologies forms the hierarchal connection between the nodes. For this reason, It is also called a hierarchical topology. This topology is formed by various star topologies together in a single bus. In other words, the Tree topology is similar to a bus and star topology.

Advantages

  • The rest of the network is not affected if there is a failure of one node.
  • Fast and easy expansion of node.
  • It is easy to detect an error.
  • Management and maintenance of the network is an easy process.

Disadvantages

  • This topology requires a lot of cables.
  • The addition of more nodes makes maintenance difficult.
  • The attached nodes are disabled if the hub or concentrator fails.
